Christy Turlington

In 2008 Supermodel Christy Turlington Burnsshe filmed No Woman, No Cry, a documentary about global maternal health in Africa. In 2010 she founded Every Mother Counts, a nonprofit organization working to end the staggering number of preventable deaths related to pregnancy and childbirth across the globe. The organization’s focus is ensuring access for women to transportation, education, and supplies related to childbirth.

She has traveled with CARE, worked with (Red), and gone to Ghana and Kenya with Bono’s DATA organization on missions to identify the health challenges faced by African women.
