Crisis: Nobel Laureates Respond to 9/11

Sixteen Nobel Peace Prize winners spoke up on TheCommunity.com after 9/11. The world was listening.

In September and October, 200, in TheCommunity.com’s first public project with the Nobel Peace Prize laureates, we reached out to the laureates for their statements in response to 9/11. 16 Nobel laureates, including Mikhail Gorbahev, Nelson Mandela and His Holiness the Dalai Lama, sent us their statements.

The site was carried by AP, the New York Times, written about in the Washington Post, Chicago Tribune, LA Times, Malaysia New Straits Times, Hong Kong Morning Post, on the front pages of Yahoo! News and AOL, and many more paper and news outlets around the world. It was selected the Number Two of the “Top Ten Sites of the Year” by USA Today.

The site has since been elected for inclusion in the Library of Congress archive for 9/11. Enjoy the statements. They are as relevant today as they were in 2001.
