The Human Rights Heroes

One of the original human rights heroes, Archbishop Desmond Tutu, on the Universal Declaration of Human Rights

The Gallery:

When human rights abusers, conflict and atrocities dominate the headlines, they can appear to be everywhere. So it is particularly important to know and acknowledge the people at the other end of the spectrum, the people who devote their lives to upholding the rights outlined in the Universal Declaration of Human Rights.

We will never have a true picture of the world without having the spotlight on the heroes as well as the perpetrators. And we will never have the time and space to name them all. They actually ARE everywhere, in local communities, in conflict regions putting their lives at risk to save lives, in offices working to make a difference, in official positions, in NGOs and working online to support human rights causes. If you’d like to remind us not to forget someone, please nominate a hero.
