Addressing the UN General Assembly, Malala calls out the world powers for “flatlining” or even reducing their budgets for global education.
Pointing out that 130 millions girls are out of school today, pushing back against poverty, war and child marriage, she says “We have big goals. But here’s the truth. None of the SDGs [Sustainable Development Goals] can be accomplished unless we educate all girls.”
“We are failing them,” she says, “but we are also failing ourselves.”
